  • 2024 VCM SUMMER PICNIC – SUNDAY, August 25th

    Our traditional Velo Club Summer Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 25th from 2-6pm. 

    The picnic will be held at the Coniglio Family House on Laureles Grade in Carmel Valley, as in recent years. There’s lots of room, a big grill, swimming pool, and even a shower for those who want to clean up after the morning rides.

  • Addition: We need volunteers!

  • 3-5 people to help set up 12-2pm

  • 3-4 people to help grill 1:30-4pm

  • 3-5 people to clean up 4-6pm

  • THE PICNIC: VCM provides barbecued burgers, sausages, hot dogs and the fixings, as well as coolers/ice, plates and utensils and non-alcoholic beverages. BYO Beer, Wine or other alcoholic drinks. Also we ask that members bring salads/side, appetizers or desserts to share.
    

  • ·        If your last name starts with A-H bring an appetizer.

    ·        If your last name starts with I-Q bring a dessert.

    ·        If your last name starts with R-Z bring a salad or side dish.

    THE RIDES: Long Ride –Start at Coniglio house at 7:00 a.m.  This year we're back to the classic loop of Hwy. 68, River Road, Arroyo Seco and back up Carmel Valley Road. 90 miles with 4,750 ft. of climbing and it can be very hot climbing Cahoon Grade. 

  • Shorter Ride – Climb to Cahoon Summit (with Cachagua Loop option on the way back) ride leaving at 9:30 from the House, or 9:45 from the Sunny Cafe at 18 E Carmel Valley Rd. If you get back early, you can help setup the picnic or take a dip in the pool to cool off. Addition! Cachagua Loop group will leave at 9:00 am

  • DONATIONS:  The summer picnic is free to VCM members but we ask that all non-member guests make a $10 donation to the club.
